Here is where it all began. Meet Dora. Dora was at our local shelter in Tampa Florida when I met her. I had no idea what I was doing but between my husband and I, we decided that we wanted to do our small part and try and save dogs that were set to be euthanized. Poor little Dora was on that list. She was a quiet girl that was just sitting in her kennel. No barking, no jumping, really no life in her. She had obviously just had babies and more than likely was let go afterwards (more common than you may think) so she sat alone on a concrete floor just watching people go by and hearing her neighbors bark at all hours of the day and night. Dora was my first but she would definitely not be my last. Luckily for us, she was a dream. We took her home and introduced her to our two boys and she loved them. We were new and we did it all wrong but somehow it worked out. She was only with us for a month before a nice family wanted to adopt her. Mother and Daughter that wanted a playmate for their current dog. They changed her name to Bella and had her in their life for two years. I kept in contact with her and one day got the dreaded call – they could no longer keep her. Without hesitation I took her back. By this time I had joined a support group (a rescue) that happily helped me place her again. This time I knew it was for real. She is very loved, cared for and spoiled. She has siblings to play with and a big yard to run around in. There are others like Bella that need our support. I know we can’t save them all but we can do a little to help.
